In preparation for the statewide rollout of the value-added progress measure, Battelle for Kids and the Ohio Department of Education are leading a comprehensive training program to develop the skills of a cadre of educators who represent the 12 school improvement regions across Ohio. To complement this training program, Battelle for Kids is creating a comprehensive toolkit of interactive and print support materials.

In 2006-2007, more than 80 Regional Value-Added Specialists (RVAS) trained 1,200 District Value-Added Specialists (DVAS) to understand, interpret and use value-added information.

To date, approximately 1,400 individuals have been trained to use the information derived from the metric to make data-informed decisions about school improvement and increased student achievement.
