About T-CAP

Bringing Value-Added to the Classroom-Level
This school-improvement initiative brings value-added analysis to the classroom level in grades 3-8 to improve teacher effectiveness and student progress.

For the pilot, Battelle for Kids is collecting 37 participating Ohio SOAR districts’ student data, linking it to individual teachers, and working with principals and teachers to develop a comprehensive professional development program to help them effectively interpret and use value-added information for school improvement.

T-CAP is a carefully-constructed program of data collection, reporting, professional development, research and communication of results—designed to:
  • Improve teacher effectiveness and increase students’ progress and achievement through the use of value-added analysis and related support systems.
  • Enhance professional development approaches that show the most positive results in educators’ understanding and use of value-added analysis in improving teaching and learning.
  • Use T-CAP research findings to identify the instructional practices of highly-effective teachers, and share the information to replicate best practices.
