We believe...
The “right” people matter.
Battelle for Kids believes that clarity, hope, direction, and real transformation in education come through focusing on human capital development that starts with attracting and retaining the “right” people.
The “right” practices will help schools
accelerate student progress.
It is imperative that we understand what highly effective teachers and principals do in their classrooms and schools. We need to tap into their expertise and identify effective strategies for maximizing students' academic growth.
Educators need access to the “right” measures.
A data-based approach to improvement, using multiple measures, allows educators to identify and understand relationships that might explain the variation between effective and ineffective practices. To personalize learning, educators must be able to access and interpret multiple data sources, such as value-added analysis, student projection, and formative assessment data.
Communicating the "right" messages
makes all the difference.
The most well-intentioned improvement efforts can fail not because they weren't good ideas, but because they lacked a thoughtful approach to communicating and managing change. It's important to engage and gain the support of all stakeholders—educators, students, parents, business, and community leaders and others—to ensure that they understand how the educational-improvement effort will lead to improved teaching and student learning.
